To create an irresistible lead magnet, make sure the lead magnet is...
Something your target audience actually want.
I repeat — your target audience must want it. Otherwise, don't even waste time creating.
To achieve this, you need to know who you want to serve (again target audience) and the problems they’re trying to solve. Figuring this out is outside the scope of this guide.
Arvid Kahl has done a great job on this “finding an audience to serve” topic.
Once you’ve discovered their problems, list them out.
Choose 1 PRESSING problem and create a lead magnet to solve this specific problem. You don’t want to solve all their problems because you’d have nothing left to sell to them.
If you currently already have existing products/content though, here are some tips:
- Take the first few chapters or videos or resources from your paid product and make them the lead magnet. - Take the most engaged piece of content from your blog posts and turn it into a lead magnet. Engaged here means the most liked, shared, or those with the most comments. This piece of content has already proven itself to resonate the most with your audience. Hence it’s already been validated that people like this topic. This way you don't have to spend extra time creating your lead magnet. Just use what you already have to quickly get started.
